|
Dean was rescued from the Lancaster, TX animal shelter after a volunteer there told us about him. He was very scared and wouldn’t come out of his kennel for any of the staff. He would do play bows and was very friendly in his kennel but would not allow himself to be leashed and taken out. He would give a low grumble when they tried to take him out of the kennel and since Dean is a big boy, they left him alone. One of our experienced volunteers went to evaluate him and found that he was just very scared and possible abused previously. Even as scared as he was, Dean never showed any aggression and she recommended we take him in to our rescue.
We welcomed Dean in to SSRR on March 9th and placed him with one of very experienced fosters who has worked with him and gotten him to come out of his shell. Dean was heartworm positive when we took him in to SSRR but has since gone through and completed his heartworm treatment. Dean lives with quite a few other dogs and has not had any problems. His foster dad says he is full of life but walks well on a lead. He has never been around cats, but doesn’t chase or seem interested in the numerous squirrels he encounters on his walks. He’s also good around children and loves attention.
