About Pacco | |
Pacco was picked up as a stray with 2 Dobermans and ended up at a shelter in Norfolk, VA. Pacco is one incredibly sweet boy that absolutely loves people and other dogs, whether they be a 5 pound Chihuahua or a 120 pound large breed. His best friends is currently a 5 pound Chihuahua! One of Paccos favorite things to do is to give great big Rottie hugs. It’s easy to tell he was definitely someone’s dog at one point and has been trained. He knows commands both verbally and by hand signals. He knows sit, down and paw and does them very enthusiastically whether you have a treat in your hand or not. When he sees you with a treat his butt hits the floor quicker than you could tell him to sit. He’s a super happy boy and absolutely LOVES belly rubs. He’s also really great during bath time. He likes his baths and loves to be dried with a towel (no hair dryers). Pacco has recently discovered the fun of the beach and the waves. The first couple of times he was scared of the water but now that he knows it’s nothing to worry about, he absolutely LOVES the water and walking on the beach. He even walks without his leash and stays very close (within 10 feet) to his foster. But please don;t try that until Pacco gets to know and trust you. No matter what Pacco's doing, he’ll come to you as soon as you call his name.
Pacco is a really sweet boy and loves his people but he does have a few issues. We believe he was abused previously in his life so he doesn't like people sneaking up on him and doesn't like his back end touched unless you let him know you're going to do it. He also doesn’t like to share his food or have his food touched, but that could be worked through with training to get over that little flaw, or you could just give him his food and let him eat in peace as most of us like to do. Pacco should be in an environment similar to him, laid back and fairly quiet where there's not a whole bunch of activity going on. He will need an experienced owner who understands Rottweilers. If you have cats or kids, sorry but Pacco is not the one for your family.
