Hey There, thanks for visiting my page. My name is Al. I'm about 1 ½ -2 years old. My family surrendered me to a South Carolina shelter with another dog right before the Fourth of July because they were moving. I spent the next few months waiting for someone to come get me. When my foster mom picked me up she decided I was more Al than Capone. I love playing with my foster dog sister and brother. We all play together and they showed me how to play tug of war, keep away, tag, and play with toys. I’m submissive to the other dogs but I do like to play rough and run around and would like someone who could do that with me. I also love children. The first time I wagged my long tail was when my human children came home to meet me. I can be very loving and gentle with them but don't forget I am also still a puppy with a lot of energy. I used to jump up and hug people but my foster mom has been working very hard to break that habit.
I was heartworm positive when I came to my foster family but have completed the treatment. That meant I had to be on kennel rest for a long time. I like my kennel but I haven't been able to play or go on walks as much as I'd have liked. My family has a cat but it scares me a little so it stays upstairs away from me which is fine. I'm a little bit nervous about change but being with the other dogs makes me feel better. I need someone who will make me feel safe and be patient with me. I am a gentle soul with sweet eyes.
