Meet Hershey – a rare, beautiful “chocolate” Rottweiler who was found by animal control, along with her brother, and taken to a kill shelter. The owner, a backyard breeder, reclaimed her brother, but left Hershey to die in the shelter because he didn't like her "color.” Shelter workers reported that as her owner left the shelter with her brother, Hershey cried and slammed her body against the cage…then lapse into a depression. SSRR was contacted to try to save her and give her the life she deserved.

Hershey is desperate for love but has clearly been abused and doesn't know whether a human hand will hit her or pet her. But, once she realizes that you’re not going to hurt her, she will smother you in kisses.

Hershey seems to love everyone she meets—children, other dogs, and even cats. She shares a home with young kids, an adult male Rotti, a male Rotti puppy, and a cat. The best description of Hershey is a “total sweetheart.” She just needs a forever home with a family where she will get lots of love and attention, and will never know mistreatment again.

**Hershey will be available for adoption as soon as her heartworm treatment is finished; we are now accepting applications. She is being fostered in NC; SSRR assists in transporting dogs to other areas.

Hershey is Heartworm positive and will be treated. SSRR will work with the adopter to get this set up.

Hershey is an extremely sweet 1-year old female Rottweiler who was abandoned in a SW Louisiana kill shelter by a backyard breeder who didn't like her "color." Hershey is HW+ and in need of immediate treatment. She is desperate for love but has clearly been abused and doesn't know whether a human hand will hit or pet her. Southern States Rescued Rottweilers (SSRR) has an approved and committed foster-to-adopt for Hershey; however SSRR has over 12 HW+ dogs currently undergoing treatment and can't pull her until we have sufficient funds to pay for her HW treatment, spay and vetting. Please don't let Hershey die when she has a home waiting for her. She is almost out of time - See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/pet-expenses/hershey-needs-heartworm-treatment/137665#sthash.fV1YMTzv.dpuf
