About Axl Rose | |
|
|
Axl was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. No one came forward to claim him so the shelter reached out to SSRR. The shelter described Axl as “the calmest young Rottweiler they have ever met. He walks slow and easy on the leash and is incredibly mellow.”
Axl is a handsome, well-proportioned Rottweiler. He loves to play with other dogs but when there isn't a dog to play with he lies down by your side or is content to play with a toy by himself. If there is a dog to play with, he is all game! A dog comparable in size would be best, however, he plays appropriately with the English Cocker Spaniel that he currently lives with. He enjoys walks and does not pull on the lead. He knows sit and wait.
Axl is house trained and crate trained. In the house he is very calm (unless playing). He is currently being fed in his crate as he lives with other dogs who like to raid other food bowls. He sleeps in his crate at night and when his foster mom is gone during the day. Tossing a cookie in the crate will get him in easily.
He might chew on soft things laying around including shoes, slippers, etc. Rope toys will get eaten as well as soft toys. This is the puppy in him so training is important, as it is with any dog. Axl gets Nyla bones, antlers and yak cheese to chew. He is very friendly, happy, very sweet and loves giving kisses. First thing in the morning he comes up and leans on you to be petted. In his exuberance on greeting you, he sometimes will lift up and put his paws on your shoulders. It is very soft but young children might get knocked over. Overall, Axl is a real sweetie and would make a great family member.
