Looking for a 150-pound bum? Meet Kevin. Kevin is a 5 year old Rottweiler available through Southern States Rescued Rottweiler. Kevin’s original owner passed away earlier this year, which landed him in foster care.

Kevin’s personality is that of a beach bum. Not the toned, athletic kind, but the kind that really likes cheap beer, fried pickles and the occasional game of corn hole. His athletic abilities fall somewhere between Scooby Doo and Donald Duck. His worst fear is being adopted by a family that runs 5K’s for holidays. Kevin is a people dog and will attach himself to you like Velcro if given the opportunity, so wide doorways are a plus.

Kevin is a simple guy who enjoys short walks, long naps, and copious snacks (as evidenced by his canine dad bod). Kevin’s perfect home has a plethora of tug ropes, obnoxiously loud squeaky toys, and accessible couches. Kevin does have hip dysplasia. The dysplasia is managed with a daily pill (no disguise needed, he’ll eat in with kibble) and weight loss… we’re working on his beach body. Kevin is good with cats and other small animals but would probably do best as the only dog in the home. Kevin likes kids (really anyone that offers him snacks) but would do best with older children that he can’t knock down and are gentle with his hips. Kevin is learning to heel and walk on a lead – leash walks are a new concept for him but he’s learning. He is house trained and knows basic commands (sit, stay, wait, etc).

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
