Diesel is a loveable dog. He is very food and treat motivated, but not aggressive around other dogs when food is involved. He gets along with other dogs wonderfully, as long as they’re eased into getting to know each other slowly. He loves toys and could entertain himself for hours throwing a ball back and forth across a room.

He has a very protective instinct. He loves women but takes a few minutes of reassurance and treats to warm up to men. Once he realizes you’re not there to hurt him, he’s your best friend!

Diesel loves going for car rides and walks and he has some basic training commands down pat. He’s great on a leash and listens when you call him. He understands when he has done something wrong because he cowers in the corner if you tell him “No” such as when he has gotten into the trash can. He’s crate-trained and will run into his kennel when he thinks it’s dinner time, even at 2 in the afternoon.

He’s a giant teddy bear. He loves attention and will place the gentlest paw on your lap or your hand if you don’t give him attention. If you pet him and stop, he’ll place a second paw on you. His facial expressions sometimes are the poutiest thing ever and could give all the dogs in the ASPCA commercials a run for their money!

Diesel likes getting on the furniture when he’s invited, but he’s so big that he can’t figure out how to turn around. He loves to cuddle but doesn’t quite understand how big he is so he might lay on top of you!

He doesn’t like the vet’s office. He is muzzled as a precaution when he goes in and he walks in fine, but he gets anxious and scared when technicians or vets come near him.

He absolutely LOVES bath time and will jump in and even lay down smiling while the water runs over him.

Diesel needs a home where he can run around and get tons of attention. He’s been great so far around children, but we haven’t exposed him to other animals so we’re not sure how he would get along with cats.
