About Tucker | |
|
|
Tucker was originally adopted from SSRR in January 2019. His family recently moved from their home in Virginia to South Carolina for dad’s work. This was just as the whole COVID pandemic was occurring. The mom had a job lined up as well, but that fell through as most everyone is on a hiring freeze. They are currently living in a camper at a campground just outside of Charlotte since their plan to buy a home has also been put on a long term hold due to everything going on. Due to breed restrictions, they are virtually unable to rent anything and Tucker is having an awful time adjusting from his large back yard to his current situation.
Tucker knows basic commands and loves to play fetch. He would do best with a submissive dog as he likes to play a bit rough and his play style may be misinterpreted by an alpha type dog. Tucker is not a fan of cars, bicycles, and motorcycles riding by. He has pulled and/or lunged at them on a few occasions in order to get them to stop moving. Unfortunately, the campground is the absolute worst environment for him. He’s constantly stressed and agitated..
He needs to be in a home where he can enjoy outside time in a fenced yard with no other distractions. He’s easily stressed, and the constant comings and going’s and changing of environment are unbelievably hard on him.
Tucker does show some food guarding and will need to be fed in a separate room from any other dogs so he doesn’t feel any insecurity about his food being stolen from him. His current owners have started working with him and are able to hand feed him out of his bowl. At this time, this must be done from the beginning of the meal, and not after he has begun to eat.
Tucker is eager to please, but needs a strong handler to keep him on track. He should not live with small children or older adults that may fall easily due to his energy level.
Tucker is neutered, microchipped, HW- and UTD on vaccines. We are going to take Tucker back into SSRR but in order to do that we need a foster home for him to go to. If you have room in your heart and home and have the time and experience to work with Tucker, please let us know.
