Buddy is a very handsome, very happy 2 year old Male Rottweiler. He was rescued by SSRR from a kill shelter that he was at for quite a while. We believe he has been abused by how cautious he is around people. When he first arrived at his foster home, he dove for the floor when she just raise my hand (not to hit him or anything like that).  When he arrived at his foster home he didn’t seem to understand what a house, carpet, doors or bed were. It was all very new to him.

Buddy is super friendly once he gets to know you and realizes that are not going to try hurting anyone. Quick movements from someone he doesn’t know will send him scurrying into another area so he needs someone who will go slow with him and give him the time he needs. Buddy can be a really god watch dog. He’ll bark to let you know someone is there, all while usually wagging his tail.

Buddy has learned to romp and rough house with his 60lb foster brother who is the same size as him. He doesn’t play as much with his big foster brother who is 90lbs but they can lie back to back and they are ok. He just recently picked up a toy for the first time. He doesn't tear it up but chews on it. Buddy loves bones!  He does like to follow his foster brothers and only became comfortable in the house after his foster mom introduced him to the dogs. We believe Buddy will need another dog his size

Buddy is super affectionate and loves to cuddle and be loved on but is shy and will hesitate with new people. He is much more comfortable now in his foster home and has settled in nicely. It seemed like this may be the first house he has ever been in and he likes it, but is cautious. He is voice sensitive and seems devastated when you put him away from you or raise your voice to him.

We believe Buddy would be OK with kids 8 and up. He met his foster mom’s friend’s 5 year old and they did well together but being in a new environment with high energy would stress him out. He needs to be given time to adjust and the child will not be able to love on him right away.  However, once he gets to know you, he would be a great dog for a growing kid.

Buddy loves other dogs and actually feels comfortable around them before he feels comfortable with people. Since he has never been around cats, we do not know how he would be and will not adopt him to a family that has cats.

Buddy has a lot of scars on him and appears that he has been abused in the past but he is learning to trust. We believe he needs a mellow person, not high active who will always put buddy first.

Buddy is a very smart boy. He knows sit, off, come and stop. He is learning down and house but gets stubborn with the word out. He will not leave if you have food.  He is not food aggressive but wants to be around in case you decide to give him some. 

This boy is super special.  He will place his head on your lap and stare into your eyes as you pet him. He is built for love but is protective. He loves to get loving. He sleeps with his foster mom on the bed and likes to cuddle with her as she sleeps.

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
