Calvin is a friendly, playful and fun loving boy.  He is estimated to be about one year old and 50lbs - a perfect rottie bundle!

Calvin originally came from a shelter in Texas.  He was being temporarily fostered with a young couple and their 4 dogs but is now in a new foster home in Northern Virginia.​  ​Calvin's previous foster mom describes him as ​"​one of the sweetest and gentlest Rotties that she's ever fostered!"​.

Calvin has gotten along very well with the resident dogs in his previous foster home -  two rottweilers, a Great Dane and a Blue Heeler.​ Calvin LOVES to play fetch and will try to outrun his foster siblings to get to the ball first!  He also enjoys a good game of tug-of-war.  Calvin has not shown any resource guarding behavior over his toys or food.  A home with another dog to wrestle and play with would be ideal for Calvin.

Calvin would also make a great running or hiking partner for anyone who enjoys being active.  He loves to ride in the car and is always ready to go on his next adventure.

​Calvin has met a neighbor's cat with his previous fosters and, naturally, he was curious but displayed no negative behavior.  He has also met several young children, both during his long transport from Texas as well as in his previous foster home, and he did wonderfully with them.  

Calvin loves to snuggle and get his belly rubbed.​  He will lay down so he can get maximum tummy rubs from anyone willing to give them to him.  In his previous foster home he was learning new commands such as "stay" and "down" and responded very well.  He loves his treats and that makes Calvin a quick and fast learner!

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
