Libby is a 3 year old, 55 pound, petite sweetheart of a rottie who looks like a puppy! She currently lives with my 6.5 year old male rescued rottie and gets along well with him. You can often find them hanging out on the deck or wrestling and playing in the yard. She is a little fearful of larger dogs but has met several large dogs in my neighborhood and has done well with them. Slow introductions are best to not overwhelm and frighten her but once she is comfortable she will initiate play.
Libby loves to explore the outdoors and is energetic and inquisitive. She loves going on long walks and we get out every day and explore a new part of our neighborhood. She is very playful when in our yard, running around at full speed, grabbing toys and throwing them in the air so she can chase after them. She also LOVES car rides and is ready to jump on in for her next adventure as soon as you open the car door.
Libby absolutely LOVES people and kids. She has met many humans in our neighborhood and does the signature rottie lean when they pet her. She will also sit on her hind legs and wrap her front legs around your leg or arm and gives you a "hug" while you are petting her. She can be timid at first when in her new surroundings but will warm up quickly and lay on her back to trick you into giving her tummy rubs!
In our house she will follow me everywhere. She is such a loving, friendly girl that will always try to sneak up into your lap for cuddles. She is a perfect snuggle partner on cold nights!
Libby is house-trained as well as crate-trained. You can tell her "get in your crate" and she will walk right in with no issues. She is crated during the day while I am at work but that is only because my male can be a grump. If I am out for several hours she is gated in the kitchen with access to her crate and she has not had any destructive behavior. She is pretty low energy inside.
Libby listens very well. She knows basic commands such as: sit, stay, down and come. She also knows "go to your bowl" so at feeding time she stands patiently at her feeder and waits for you to put her bowl down. She knows "back" for the times I need to answer the door and need both dogs to stand away from the door. She is a very smart dog and is eager to please. Libby has no food/treat aggression and is fed on the opposite wall (about 7 feet) from my male and has not had any issues. Also, she has not shown any resource guarding with toys.
If you are looking for a silly, fun loving petite rottie that you can hike, jog or snuggle with Libby is the perfect companion for you.
