Ava is a very sweet, lovable and goofy Rottweiler.  She is a 70lb, 7 year young Southern farm girl who is currently living in the suburbs of Virginia.  She has a 2.5 year old male Rottweiler who she is roommates with and gets along great with him.  No small dogs, cats, female dogs or small farm animals for this girl.  The ideal home for Ava would be one with no other dogs or a laid back male her size or larger.

New situations and people can be a little overwhelming but Ava is able to work with her environment and adapt to it.

Ava walks wonderfully on a leash and rides well in the car!  She loves going on walks and hikes, wrestling with her foster brother or just hanging out on the sofa with her human.  When inside, Ava is a low key, couch potato and she is either napping or following me everywhere.  She really LOVES being around her human.   To prevent any temptations all food should be kept out of her reach.  She knows to stay out of the kitchen while I am cooking and if she forgets a simple command of 'out of the kitchen' will remind her of where she needs to be.

Ava has no food aggression and is fed on the opposite wall of my male.  She knows the command, 'go to your bowl' and will go stand (or twirl around in excitement) by her feeding station.  She is very treat motivated therefore easily trained.  I am able to take toys away from her and she has not displayed any resource guarding behavior with me.  She will not let my male take toys from her but does not react aggressively if he is near her when she is playing.  She will just take her toy elsewhere.

Ava is house-trained and crate-trained.  She spends her days laying around on the couch while I am at work.  She will need a slow transition to being allowed free reign of the house when no one is home.

She knows basic commands such as 'sit', 'stay' and 'come'.  When Ava gets very excited she will jump up on you but will take correction very well.  She has made marked improvements since coming into our home and this behavior has decreased.   Ava is an expert cuddler and lives to snuggle up to you on the sofa or the bed and I often times find myself using her as a pillow.  She allows me to handle her ears, mouth, paws and all over her body with absolutely no issues.  I am able to brush her as well as trim her nails with ease.

If you would like to give Ava her furever home please fill out an adoption application!
