Southern States Rescued Rottweilers (SSRR) pulled Bonnie from the Lafourche Parish (Louisiana) Shelter saving her from being PTS the very next day. She was neglected, very sick and pregnant. She was found with a male Rottie (Clyde) tied to a tree and abandoned in rural SE Louisiana. Bonnie was estimated to be 2-3 years old had serious and urgent medical issues: Stage 3 heartworm positive (HW+), extreme anemia, worms and emaciated. Bonnie’s health was at high risk when she gave birth to 10 puppies on May 25 (all adopted). Bonnie has exceeded all of our expectations with giving birth to her puppies and going through her heartworm treatment. She is our miracle pup and is now at the end stages of that treatment. She will be available for adoption as soon as she finishes her treatment but you can put in an application today for this very special girl.
Bonnie is very friendly. She's happy and loves to play. She's very affectionate and has lots of energy. She’s good around her foster mom’s 3 year old granddaughter and gets along with the male Rottie and 12 year old Shih Tzu. To the best of our knowledge, Bonnie has never been around cats. She is house trained, and crate trained. She knows No, Sit, Down, and is working on heel. She comes when you call her, walks well on lead. Bonnie loves to be petted and likes to lay her head and top half of her body in your lap. She puts her head on your shoulder and will stay as long as you let her. Bonnie doesn't do well in a car as she gets carsick going to the vet. Bonnie gets fed in her kennel since she has some food aggression. She growls, barks and nips at the other dogs if they are too close but let's her human take food and treats from her bowl or mouth. Bonnie also loves to play in the water.
