Layla was rescued from the Norfolk shelter in Virginia. She was an owner surrender, they called the ACO to pick her up the day the sheriff came to foreclose on their home.  Unfortunately, they sent no information on her at all so not much is know about her past life. In the shelter, she was too scared to hardly move and greet people. The shelter was overcrowded and her time was up but she had no where to go. That's when Layla's life all changed, and SSRR scooped her up into rescue.

Now Layla is a vibrant, affectionate, sweet girl who shares her foster home with a 9 year old fur Rottie brother and as well as kids; ages 12-19. She's very gentle, takes treats nicely,  lets you pet her while she eats, and walks nicely on a leash. She's completely house trained.  No accidents, she doesn't jump on furniture ( even though dogs in the foster home are allowed ), she doesn't chew anything and she doesn't counter or trash surf.  She knows sit, lay down, stay, and is working on crawl. She goes in her crate if asked, but prefers to have roam of the home.  When left unattended, she doesn't do anything except sit and wait for you to come home. She loves people and attention and doing anything!! She's even learning to swim in the pool at her foster home.  

Layla is current on all her vaccinations & spayed.  She is healthy & happy and ready for her forever home.   The vet estimates that she is 4-5 years old. As far as we know, Layla has not been around cats so we do not know how she would do with them.

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
