Bear is an incredibly sweet 3 year old male Rottweiler that was surrendered to a Virginia Beach shelter by his owner due to them moving. Poor Poor Bear does not appear to have been taken care of very well at all. He has hair loss on his back from what is thought to be excessive flea bites. He has calluses on his butt which are most likely from sitting on pavement for a very long time. Along with those issues, he is also Heartworm positive. Bear looks to have been an outside dog, even though his family said that he is good with and grew up with children ages 2, 5, 7 and 9.
Even with everything he has going on, Bear has still got to be one of the friendliest boys you’ll ever meet. He absolutely LOVES people! He did just fine with the cats he met. Actually, he was more afraid of them than they were of him. Bear also gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. He had no signs of aggression at all. He loves tennis balls! When you show him one, his entire body wiggles as he’s sitting waiting for you to throw it to him but he will let you take it right from his mouth without any problem at all. Bear knows sit, lay, and give paw.
Bear is doing wonderful at his foster home and will be undergoing Heartworm treatment in the very near future. He will be available for adoption once he has completed his heartworm treatment and has recovered from the neglect he was forced to suffer through.
