About April | |
April is a beautiful 5-year-old Rottweiler who is looking for her forever home. She is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be with her people, whether on walks in the woods, at the beach, or cuddling up in bed for days. She is energetic during play and always wants a toy in her mouth. However, she has a good off switch and can calm down quickly. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands such as "sit" and "wait”. April is also very good at communicating her needs, is great at walking on a leash, and has amazing recall. She is currently learning that calm behavior gets her what she wants faster, and is picking up on the idea that sitting gets her food, leashed, and doors open quicker. In fact, she is the best-behaved dog in her beginner obedience class.
April is currently being fostered with two other female dogs, but she feels insecure about her rank in the household and postures often with them. While she is not necessarily interested in playing with other dogs, she will play sometimes. Therefore, April would do best in a household where she is the only dominant female. However, she is good with cats and can coexist peacefully with them. Although April can be exuberant at times, she came from a household with small children and is learning to calm down well.
Overall, April is a wonderful dog who has so much love to give. If you are looking for a loyal and loving companion who is both playful and affectionate, April could be the perfect dog for you.
