Zeus is an absolutely wonderful dog in every way!  He has been through a lot and is so loving. He is great around kids and loves everyone he meets. He responds well and wants to please. He has been learning basic commands. He will learn quickly as he is very intelligent! We have learned how sweet he is to all dogs big and small.  He seems to be even extra sweet to the small dogs he has met. He is going to be a wonderful addition to someone’s family! If you don’t remember Zeus, he is the Rottweiler that a shelter in Texas reached out to Southern States Rescued Rottweilers seeking rescue help for. Zeus arrived arrived at their facility as a cruelty seizure case. Of all the evil that can be done to these helpless souls... Zeus’ owner continuously poured hydrogen peroxide in his eyes! Zeus has gone through is testing and vetting and a few necessary procedures. But he now is ready and must go through heartworm treatment. We would prefer a foster who has experience with heartworm treatment but if not, then someone who will stay in close contact with our Director of Foster Care and our Director of Health and Veterinary Care. Part of Zeus’ heartworm treatment will involve a few trips to the vet. Zeus is being moved at absolutely no fault of his own. He has turned out to be a very sweet boy that seems to get along with everyone, except cats. Zeus has not been around cats. He does well with other dogs but it seems his foster brother and sister are not too keen on him and don’t like the idea that he’s in their home. If you can foster Zeus through his heartworm treatment, please let us know ASAP.

Step 1:   Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED

Step 2:   Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days).

Step 3:   After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators.  The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process.  

Step 4:   Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract.

Step 5:   Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
