About Raina | |

Miss Raina is an amazing girl! She is an extremely intelligent girl who is so smart that she can figure out something in a matter of minutes. She even knows how to open doors even though her foster mom is teaching her to sit and stay at the door, even when it is open. She is doing a good job and is learning to wait to be invited to walk through when told. She is such a smart girl that she's starting to remember knowing that she needs to sit and wait. Raina is a spunky girl with good energy and would make a great companion for an active family. However, when it's bedtime, she likes her time to get her beauty sleep. She is slow to wake up and needs her space for a little bit before she is ready to go anywhere or do anything. She's a real princess! She is also a great watchdog. She will alert you to anybody that she doesn't know when she sees or hears them in the area. She is also a good girl who will alert you if she senses danger. However, a stranger can walk into the house as long as they're welcomed by her people, and she will just love and give kisses to them and lots of attention. She's a real friendly love bug.
She walks well on a leash but there is always room for improvement. She does pretty well in public but is still learning impulse control, and we're continuing to work on "leave it" and "listen." What she wants to do is meet and mingle with every person and animal she sees--she's such a social butterfly! She will need a strong leader to help her interact appropriately to show off how great she truly is. She is absolutely awesome and on her best behavior when meeting the humans and with other dog friendly dogs. If there are dogs that aren't friendly to her, she won't stand for it.
She gets along with every single dog in her foster home, even the ones that get mad at her. She has never ever shown me any red flags or any body language that she wanted to retaliate or fight. Did I mention that she's a princess? She just ignores it and goes about her business. The only thing she doesn't like to do is to share her toys with her foster brothers and sisters, but who can blame her? She sure does like her toys. She also likes her foster brother and sister's toys and will try to steal them from them. We are working on this.
She does not have any food aggression, and she waits patiently to eat. Occasionally, she will bark up a storm and talk like crazy until her food is ready-- it's quite funny. Other than that she waits like the rest of the pack to prepare meals, and then she'll go to her station and sit and wait till her food comes to her. She will finish sometimes before the others, and she will come and wait while they're still eating, so she is learning to wait and not try to steal food from her siblings.
Raina needs a loving but confident handler. She definitely has a mind of her own , and the way to win this little one over is with love. She sucks it up and gives it back 10 fold. She thinks she's 10 pounds, and she will be a lap dog if you let her. She loves to come up on you and give you hugs, and she likes to be held and cuddled. Also, she will come up to you at any time of the day and want you to hold her for a few minutes.
Another thing Raina loves is water. If you're in the bathroom taking a shower or bath, you better lock the door or she will come in and get in the shower or bathtub with you! She is such a silly girl. She would take a shower every night if she could, She'll actually will go and lay in the shower stall in the master bedroom. She is too funny! She also absolutely loves to go in the car, and she's very good in the car. She would rather be with her person than be left home alone, but she will go to her kennel and be ok if she needs to stay home by herself.
Raina is a very loving, sweet, and super smart girl. She will make someone a wonderful companion.
